All residents are assigned a Job Specialist who works with them Monday-Friday. The Job Specialist assesses a residents existing skills and works with residents to determine the types of jobs best suited for them. By partnering with the business community, the Holistic Wellness Institute gives residents the opportunity to immediately benefit from their learning through the job matching program. Exposure to different companies and kinds of jobs allows the participants to direct their efforts towards a role that matches their capabilities and interests.
Should a resident need further training or skills, the Job Specialist will be responsible for guiding them in the right direction. For example, if the resident is interested in employment as a welder and does not possess welding skills, the Job Specialist determines the appropriate Welding School for the resident to attend while in the program. The Job Specialist also works with the resident and the appropriate agencies to seek scholarships and other funding that may be available for this type of schooling.
To ensure that residents make the best use of their income, they receive financial counseling and will be taught how to create a working budget for their family. Residents participate in simulations which will help them learn how to execute their budget once they leave the program. In addition, residents are taught time management skills in order to manage their work and personal schedules, as well as strong work ethics required to maintain full-time gainful employment.
